Red Amethyst Cutbase – 5.5 cm, 106 g – Extremely rare crystal from Uruguay ❤️
This rare red amethyst cutbase from Uruguay captivates with its deep red color and fine, sparkling crystal structure. The surface displays countless miniature spikes—also known as "sugary"—that glitter delicately in the light. A naturally grown amethyst, personally selected by me on-site in Artigas, and brought to Switzerland with care and much love.
🌋 Formation – Millions of years of crystal growth
Amethyst is formed by the slow cooling of mineral-rich solutions in volcanic cavities. Its intense violet color is due to the iron content in quartz. When this iron content is enhanced by additional hematite (iron oxide) deposits, a deep, reddish hue develops under optimal conditions—a geological rarity found only in a few regions of the world.
🔴 Why red?
The red coloration is not a post-treatment, but a natural phenomenon. Fine hematite has been deposited during crystal growth or is finely layered over the crystals—this creates this characteristic hue, which is clearly distinct from the classic violet. Red amethyst from Uruguay is extremely rare and highly prized by collectors and connoisseurs.
✨ Structure & Quality
The surface of this crystal is covered with countless, clearly defined micro-spikes. This "sugary" structure is created by particularly slow growth—a clear sign of quality. The cutbase is flat and stable, ideal for a stylish presentation.
