💡 What does fluorescence mean in crystals?

Fluorescence is a physical phenomenon in which a material emits a visible luminous color under ultraviolet (UV) light. In the crystal world, this luminescence is caused by certain trace elements or inclusions in the crystal lattice that react with UV radiation.

Depending on its chemical composition, the crystal can glow whitish, violet, yellow or even greenish – always depending on the minerals it contains.

🌞 Fluorescent citrine in ametrine – a rare natural process

My current ametrine phantom points from Brazil are a rarity: They consist of citrine and amethyst combined in a single crystal. Some of these points display delicate citrine zones that fluoresce clearly under UV light.

This phenomenon is extremely rare and is only possible if certain conditions existed in the Earth during the growth of the crystal - such as temperature changes, trace elements such as aluminum or iron, and precise geological processes that lasted for millions of years.

The luminous zones in the citrine area appear almost like liquid light under UV light – an effect that cannot be seen with the naked eye in daylight.

🟣 What is Ametrine?

Ametrine is a natural combination of amethyst (violet) and citrine (yellow-gold) . The color separation is caused by different oxidation states of iron in the crystal lattice. Ametrine belongs to the quartz family and is found in this purity only in very few places in the world—particularly in Brazil and Bolivia.

The phantom structures inside these crystals make each piece an energetically deep, multi-layered unique piece that can be used in meditation and space clearing – or simply inspires with its beauty.
