Celestine forms over many millions of years in sedimentary rocks. Slow chemical reactions with strontium-containing solutions create crystal cavities within these rocks, where celestine crystals settle and grow extremely slowly—often over periods of 20 to 80 million years. The particularly clear peaks require stable, calm conditions over very long periods. ⏳🌍
