Large, unique amethyst cutbase from Uruguay. With an impressive height of 23 cm and a weight of 4.52 kg, this specimen is a true eye-catcher.
Formation: Amethyst, a violet variety of quartz, forms under specific geological conditions:
Magmatic activity: In volcanic regions, hot magma flows through the Earth's crust and forms cavities in the rocks.
Hydrothermal solutions: Hot, mineral-rich solutions containing silicon dioxide (SiOβ) and iron fill these cavities. Iron compounds are responsible for the purple color of amethyst.
Cooling and crystallization: As the solution cools, the silicon dioxide crystallizes and forms amethyst crystals. The slow cooling process allows for the growth of large, clear crystals.
Calcite formation: In some cases, as in this particular piece, additional calcite crystals grow in the cavity.
Special features:
Beautiful and unique: Each amethyst is unique with a fascinating structure and intense violet color.
Calcite Points: The natural formation of calcite points adds an additional aesthetic dimension to this piece.
Sugary Calcite Formation: Inside you will find a rare, sugary sparkling calcite formation that beautifully reflects the light and gives the amethyst a special depth.
