How Do Amethyst Flowers Form from Stalactites?

In cavities within rock, mineral-rich solutions can accumulate over very long geological periods. Layer by layer, elongated mineral formations develop with different zones of chalcedony or agate and quartz. Under suitable conditions, violet amethyst can also form.

When such a stalactite is cut across its direction of growth, its internal structure becomes visible. From the centre outward, natural bands, different colour zones and sparkling crystals can be seen. This radial structure creates the characteristic shape of an amethyst flower or amethyst sun.

No stalactite grows exactly like another. That is why the cross-sections differ in colour, transparency, crystallisation and pattern. Every Amethyst Flower is a genuine natural one-of-a-kind piece.
