Formation and duration of the Phantom Amethyst ⛰️
Phantom amethysts form over millions of years in several growth phases. As the crystal slowly grows, natural interruptions occur – fine minerals are deposited before the crystal continues to grow. These layers form the typical “phantoms”: delicate silhouettes of an earlier crystal stage, trapped inside the crystal like a time capsule of the Earth.
This phantom amethyst comes from Brazil, one of the most important regions for finding exceptionally clear precious quartz. Only a small fraction of the finds show multiple distinct phantoms in combination with rainbow reflections – a sign of absolute rarity and purity.
