Pink amethyst forms deep within the Earth's interior when amethyst and quartz formations develop over millions of years . The deposition of iron during crystal formation creates the delicate pink to pink color—a process that can take up to 130 million years .

Bubble crystals (also called spheroidal crystal formations) are formed by slow growth in gas-filled cavities . Flower-like structures, in turn, form when many small crystals cluster in a star shape around a core—a rare growth process that only occurs under very specific geological conditions.
