🌍 Origin & Rarity

Ametrine is a natural variety of the quartz group and forms over millions of years in hydrothermal rock cavities – usually in only a few deposits worldwide. During crystal formation, different temperature zones affect the iron in the crystal: In cooler areas, it remains stable (→ amethyst), while in warmer areas, it is reduced (→ citrine).

The hollandite inclusions are formed by fine, needle-like crystals of manganese oxide that are deposited within the quartz during its growth. Hollandite in ametrine is extremely rare, lending the piece not only rarity but also a deeper metaphysical dimension.
