Insight into the formation of rock crystal:
Rock crystal forms through the cooling of silicate melts. These melts contain silica (SiO₂) and other minerals. During the cooling process, the silicates crystallize and form quartz crystals.
Geological conditions: Rock crystal forms in cavities (veins, fissures, geodes) in rocks. Formation occurs under high pressure and high temperature. In these cavities, silica accumulates and begins to crystallize.
Time frame: The formation of rock crystal can take millions of years. During this time, the crystal grows slowly, layer by layer.
